ArcihiJOY has joined forces with Reviters worldwide to build a unique Revit consultants database with users from around the globe.

Currently 10.000 plus members are in, and this way ArchiJOY would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff members who participated in the making of this database, and of course all of you tech savvy architects and engineers worldwide!

Let us not forget the 3000 plus companies currently in the database either. (result of our campaign in 2008.)

I could not help laughing myself to tears when my colleague at work pointed me to the fact that my profile is on top of Revit user group sorted "by relevance"! I have a big list of Revit related contacts, but I didn't know I'm this "relevant".You just got to love LinkedIn...had to share this.

What is intelligence in design for you?

For Revit BIM users intelligence is probably in design data, for concept form developers it’s in the different ways to constrain 3D geometry. Some will argue that intelligence lies in software that we use and in the code which shaped our digital tools the way they are today. After all, you can’t neglect the importance of the ease of use, and flexibility of software, which must be ready to handle numerous different approaches to design problems. At the end of the day, if you work in a team environment, and design a building, even the way you communicate your ideas in your network has to have a built in intelligence, otherwise you could end up like the folks on the video below.

I would love to hear your opinions on this subject, because it seems, we strive to optimize everything these days, but make a joke out of this concept all too often by emphasizing only one or two aspects of design intelligence.

Revit boom

Let me tell you about a funny experience I had with this BIM boom in our industry…

While searching for new job a while ago, I decided to find email addresses of all the architectural studios registered at www.RevitCity.com. I successfully sent over 3000 e-mails with a request for collaboration in architectural project development (exclusively on Revit platform and by telecommuting). Why offices using Revit ? Revit was the most advanced platform for architects at the time, so I figured, those users must have tried telecommuting at least once.. How wrong I was!

Results 92 – not interested, 4 started to work with me temporarily (no long term strategy), 1 continued to work with me (still working together). Many of you probably received sort of unsolicited emails from me…please accept my apology.

What do you think has to happen for architectural offices to start implementing telecommuting more? It took me almost 3 years to perfect and streamline this process (production process, standards, quality control, tutorials...) so I know it’s hard, but far from impossible.

If any of you would be interested to know more about this way of working, let me know.
